Altera Malaysia

Altera Malaysia is the Penang-based operation of Altera, a multinational semiconductor technology company headquartered in San Jose, California. Altera develops programmable logic and FPGA-based solutions, including FPGAs, SoCs, embedded systems, hardware acceleration technologies, and related design software for data-center, communications, industrial, automotive, and other high-performance computing applications. The Penang operation is based in Bayan Lepas and supports semiconductor research and development, silicon design engineering, technical support, manufacturing, packaging, assembly, and testing. It is described as Altera’s largest site outside the United States, with approximately 1,100 employees in Malaysia and a history in Penang dating to 1995. The business was formerly associated with Intel’s Programmable Solutions Group following Intel’s acquisition of Altera Corporation.
