SME Bank

Small Medium Enterprise Development Bank Malaysia Berhad, commonly known as SME Bank, is a Malaysian development financial institution focused on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. It provides conventional and Islamic financing, business development assistance, training, advisory support, and other development programmes intended to help SMEs start, grow, and become more competitive. Established in 2005, SME Bank is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur and operates as a prescribed development financial institution regulated by Bank Negara Malaysia. Since 1 May 2025, it has been a subsidiary of Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad, which is wholly owned by Minister of Finance Incorporated, placing SME Bank within Malaysia’s government-linked development finance ecosystem.
